Hurricane Ian
Unity in Disaster, Inc had the pleasure of being a blessing to families in need.
Our 2023 focus has been to support special needs and underserved communities affected by hurricane Ian. We provided $1,000 Home Depot gift cards for 3 families on Saturday 12/2/2023 with our volunteer staff. Last month we provided $800.00 to 7 families that were unable to repair hurricane related flood and wind damage.
We will provide support for 2 additional homes with repairs this month. The first quarter of 2024, we will help 10 additional families in surrounding counties through case management committee's . We would like to thank our donors GlobalGiving who have provided assistance for this community impact project (12/13/2023).

We have provided 2 Disaster Resource Navigators to Lee County Florida since February 2023. In August 2023 we added a debris removal team and have reached out to over 441 families. Our case management team will continue to update assessments for unmet needs in the county. The next phase of relief will be supporting home repairs. We have targeted 25 uninsured or under insured homes with minor repairs under $1,000 per home. 9/16/2023
On behalf of Unity in Disasters, Inc I would like to thank you for your support with our relief efforts. As of 10/20/2022 we have secured and distributed supplies valued at over $132,880 in addition to over 21,000 pounds of nonperishable food. We have been able to support 4 counties effected by Hurricane Ian in Florida by providing the following:
2,300 shelf stable meals
40 sleeping bags for shelter support
525 five-gallon buckets of variety cleaning supplies for clean up
5,000 pre packed 17 item hygiene kits
400 bottles shampoo , 400 bottles of conditioner
1,000 precooked meals
10,080 lbs. breaded chicken
240 lbs. bagged Ice
21,000 lbs. of nonperishable foods to include over 200 cases of bottled water
Total of 308 hours for 38 volunteers, no paid staff and will review unmet needs on how we will help in November.
